Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is committed to providing their patients with the world-class medical care they are in need of. On top of their commitment to excellent care, they are also devoted to making a difference in the community. The hospital staff recently honored several of their staff members for volunteering their time to make a difference in the lives of American soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.
The volunteers were in no way paid for their time and certainly did not care about any honors or accolades, but the hospital wanted the community to know how tirelessly their staff works to make a difference in the lives of others even if they never get to meet the person they helped. A group of volunteers spent a great amount of time carefully packing 24 boxes of care items that will go to 24 deserving American soldiers who are far from home as they serve and protect.
These boxes make such a difference in the lives of these soldiers because it feels as if they are receiving a piece of home. These boxes were filled with items soldiers might be missing after being so far away from home. From a familiar snack to a letter of appreciation, these boxes are packed to the brim with items that will truly touch each soldier’s life and make their time in service just a little bit easier.
The volunteers from the hospital are committed to changing the community one step at a time. They are always looking for new ways to help others, and this is just one of those ways they have used to give back to those who could use a little encouragement in their journey towards coming home. Soon, these 24 soldiers will be receiving their care packages and will feel the love and care that were put into each one.
