Child Fever-Tips to Help You Figure it Out

A child will always be taken in for medical care for the reasons for catching a fever. This is so common and we actually don’t feel surprised by this fact. Fevers are actually some of the common problems with children and will be often causing a frightening feeling to the parents and the child. We are going to look at some of the tips which will be quite effective to help the parents handle the fevers that will catch their young ones at certain points in time and quite common as we have mentioned above.

Question number one, “What is fever?”. The child is said to have a fever when their body temperature is up on highs above the normal which is 37 degrees. You can take the body temperature by using a thermometer. Even though fevers are at times helpful in the fact that they can help you fight infections, when they go above the normal, you will find them causing you worries and making the child a lot uncomfortable.

You may be asking yourself the question of how do you know your son or daughter has caught fever. Fever has its first sign on children in feeling hot and there will as well be certain changes in their behavior all varied as per their ages. For the newborns, they will feel a lot fussier and sleepier than is the normal and will refuse to breastfeed or even the bottle. The older babies and the toddlers, note the signs in increased crankiness and being less energetic and interested in so many things as is the norm. The toddler will as well be thirsting a lot and will have a lowered appetite. You will as well be able to tell of a fever in your toddler when they particular exhibit signs of listlessness and lack of interest in so much of their fun activities. Fever is as well manifest in children when they have a trouble falling asleep or being more sleepy than normal. For the children over two years, they will be whiny and ever feeling tired, ask for drinks more often, and at sometime complain of aches all over or feeling chilly. If your child happens to get you any of the above mentioned signs, don’t hesitate with taking their body temperatures.
